Well, isn't that... nice.

This is the Los Angeles Cathedral - also called Notre Dame (well, "Our Lady of the Angels"). They aren't fooling anyone.

Oh, dear. At first glance I thought it was a hospital - and that the tower was an incinerator smokestack.

In all fairness, the cathedral does offer a lovely view of the highway.

UGH! Is this a "straw man" sort of photo, or are all facades and perspectives equally unappealing?

It does invite unflattering comparisons. We shot this while stuck in traffic – there’s a more pleasant view of it here: here, tellingly, on a site extolling the virtues of concrete. I'll let you judge for yourself.

The balance of your L.A. coverage is leaning dangerously towards grumpy anti-Americanism.

Why don't you tell us what's REALLY bothering you?

Travis - Well, I'll admit to grumpiness, but I hadn't been aiming for anti-Americanism. Next posts will aim for positive - sunshine and lollipops, like I know your heart craves.
